Greetings,
I have 4 or 5 windows XP Pro SP3 machines that I am having problems installing the Syteline 8 click-once client on. All machines are patched and up to date. Here is what is going on: 1. Logged in as local admin on the box, I can install the click-once with no problems. 2. If I log in as a regular users and try to install the click-once, it pops a dialog box asking to install .NET components. If you click OK, it eventually fails. 3. Gave regular user admin rights and the same thing happens. 4. Removed all .NET from computer. Ran cleaner and re-installed .NET downloaded from Microsoft. 5. Went through 1 - 3 and exactly the same problem. anybody have any ideas ? Support is "researching" and has been for a while. |

Maybe a folder or registry key which is accessible by the named local admin only but which is explicitly blocked for normal users, regardless of extra rights granted.

Believe me I checked all that. Finally got around the problem, but it is a tedious pain to do it.

What was the solution? We are still on SL70520 so any gotcha's and workrounds before we go up to 8 is all good information

OK. sorry.
I have installed the click-once client on many machines (XP Pro and Windows 7) without problem. I have a handful of XP pro client machines that when I tried to install the click-once client, it went into this .NET loop where .NET IS installed , but the click-once client installer didn't think so and no matter what I did, it would believe me. ![]() I create an incident at Infor support but they claimed nothing found and would 'Research'. So I did the following: 1. Logged in as local admin and completely uninstalled .NET from the computer. 2. Ran the .NET Framework cleanup tool that removes all traces. 3. Downloaded .NET 3.5 SP1 from microsoft and installed it (as local admin) 4. Ran windows update to get all the patches, etc related to .NET 5. As local admin ran the click-once client install and it installed OK. 6. Logged in as a domain user and tried to install click-once client and got the same problem. 7. Logged out of domain user and back in as local admin. 8. Created a shortcut to SL8 click-once client and put it on the local admin desktop. 9. Copied the shortcut to the domain user's desktop 10. Logged out of local admin and then back in as domain user. 11. Double clicked the desktop shortcut and the click-once client installer popped up and installed the click-once client without problem. domain user could run syteline 8 just fine. We are on SL 8.01.11. |
